Governors warmly welcome communication from parents and recognise the importance of parent voice in continual school improvement.
Governing Board Committees:
There are three committees at Little Heath School; Pay and Personnel, Curriculum and Pupil Welfare and Finance and Premises. All other business is conducted by the Full Governing Board.
Pay and Personnel Committee
This committee considers staff recruitment, recommendations from the Headteacher, school policies relating to pay or personnel matters, and agrees annual pay increases for all staff. The Committee meets once per term, or as required.
Curriculum and Pupil Welfare.
This committee considers the school development plan, attendance, behaviour, the school curriculum, recommendations from the Headteacher, school policies relating to the curriculum or pupil welfare. The Committee meets once per term, or as required.
Finance and Premises Committee
This committee considers the school budget, budget monitoring, premises work, data protection, recommendations from the Headteacher, school policies relating to finance and premises and online security. The Committee meets once per term, or as required.
Statutory Committees (e.g., Pupil Disciplinary, Appeal, Staff Disciplinary, Redundancy)
All Governors (except staff) will form a pool from which they will be selected to serve on panels according to availability and suitability. The terms of reference for each panel will be in accordance with the relevant procedure/policy. In some circumstances (when suitable Governors cannot be selected from the Governing Board of Little Heath School, associated professionals, eg our HR advisors or Local Authority representatives will be approached to serve on statutory panels/committees.
Relevant Business and Pecuniary Interests
- All Governors are required to sign a declaration of interest form annually. They are also required to disclose any pecuniary/business interests relating to specific items on the agenda at every meeting. At this time the declared interests are:
- governance roles in other educational institutions - One Governor is Vice -Chair of a Governing Board at another school
- any material interests arising from relationships between governors or relationships between governors and school staff (including spouses, partners and close relatives) - Four Governors have children who attend Little Heath School
- any other interests – None

Link Governor
In addition to membership of at least one committee, and the Full Governing Board, Governors are linked to a specific area of responsibility. Governors visit the school once per term, with an agreed focus and meet with relevant staff.
